The historical origins of Agerola go back to pre-Roman times.
Already known at the time of Galen to the production of "very healthy milk" which was produced at this location for its proximity to Amalfi was a possession of the Amalfi Republic in shared glory and decadence. Its history has been dominated by different periods: Norman, Swabian, Angevin, Aragonese and Bourbons. In 1880 with the construction of access routes to the nearby Castellammare di Stabia, Agerola has become one of the most attractive towns of the province of Naples, both in terms of tourism to the economy for its various activities in their area.
